Yesterday Kayleigh and I spent about four hours in her room cleaning out her closet. She keeps her room immaculate, but the closet gives me fits. We don't have a playroom to keep extra "stuff" for her and Kenadie, so their closets are it for storage. We've really let hers go. We first went it and did what the experts do...we cleared every last bit of it out of there.
Here is our "before" photo:
I finally said "good-bye" to her dollhouse bookcase that I loved so much. We just don't have the room for it anymore. As sad as I was to see it go, I am MUCH happier with the space it's left us. I gave it to my neighbor who has had her eye on it for quite some time.
Kayleigh was a good sport about the whole thing and really let a lot of things go. She has a love of paper, books and journals. Other than that, she let me throw out whatever I wanted. She kept more papers than I would have liked, but her arguement to me was, "But, I will use it when I play school." And she does play school a lot so I caved.
Here is our end result:
All of her uniform stuff neatly hung - I don't really hang much else of hers, except for jackets and dresses. She has adult furniture in her room so we take advantage of her deep drawers.
Shoes neatly organized:
Papers, books, art supplies, etc.
Everything else in labled bins.
Kayleigh's whiteboard for when she plays school. I swear, if she doesn't end up being a teacher, I'll think she's missed her calling.
Oh, and while I'm sharing photos I just had to share these signs the girls put on their doors. Here is the one that Kayleigh made:
So Kenadie made one of her own. I didn't have the heart to tell her that although the word "no" does have an O and an N, just not in that order.
P.S. I had no idea what was spilled all over her door. It's clean now, I promise. :)
