Kristen over at We are that family (don't you just love that title?) is now hosting Works for Me Wednesday.
This month's theme is "Mom, I'm bored: Summer Edition". We are sharing ideas to keep the bordem at bay. I am looking forward to getting some great ideas for me and my girls this summer. I am not a fan of the all-day camps and neither are my children, so it's up to me to keep them busy. They are usually pretty good and staying occupied but I can always use some fun ideas to keep on hand...just in case.
I cannot wait for school to end on Thursday. I look forward to lazy days at home with the girls, reading and lounging around the pool. But who am I kidding? One week into summer and they'll be at each other's throats and whining, "Moooommm, I'm bored." Well, I have a plan in place for that. This year my friend, Dianne has dubbed it, "The summer of creativity". Since Kayleigh has shown an interest in cooking, I think I'll have her plan and help prepare dinner once a week. There are tons of children's cookbooks out there and I think I own about half of them.
We are also going to be doing some crafty things like this:
One Sunday last month we went to Michael's and Kayleigh picked out this make-your-own-blanket kit. I swear she was in her room for hours working on it. I figure about once a week we'll do something crafty like this.
Some other free or cheap options are:
*Free movies at the mall on Tuesdays
*Make a theme day, like a “red day” wear red eat only red foods (tomato, apples, strawberries, polish your nails red) or “dinosaur day” (read about dinosaurs, color dinosaur pictures, eat only veggies that day)
*Go to the beach
*Read together
*Play with the neighbor's kids.
I know there are lots more ideas looming around out there. I can't wait to read yours!
